Organization of Local Communities Against Poverty (OLCAP) is one of our ministries in Kenya. Recently they have been reaching their community in many ways! Here are just a few:

 

OLCAP was able to partner with another local organization, The Bible Society of Kenya, to bring The Jesus Film to the community in their language. This film is a powerful representation of the message of the gospel. They have been able to have a screening of the film weekly, meaning many people have had the opportunity to hear the gospel through this. 

 

By parenting with The Bible Society, OLCAP has also been given resources to print and audio Bibles that are more accessible in their region. In rural Kenya, many people can not read so the audio Bibles have been a great way to make the Word more accessible to the multitudes. It is amazing that people are now able to experience the Bible in their native language. 

 

A goal of OLCAP is to be able to bring medical relief to the community at no cost. Last month they were able to host a jigger eradication clinic and provide medical outreach at events to over 60 people. 

 

At the jigger eradication clinic they were able to treat over 25 patients suffering from jigger infestation. Jiggers is an infestation of a certain type of flea in the skin. It can make it very uncomfortable to walk or perform regular daily activities due to the itching and pain of infection. During these events OLCAP is able to teach people about the infestation and how to treat/prevent it and reach the community. These moments provide ample opportunity for prayer or connecting with people to invite them to Bible studies. 

 

The medical clinics are a great opportunity for OLCAP to share Jesus through words and actions. They are able to show Christ like love and care to the community and it creates touch points to verbally share who He is.
